“Motivated to being a part of creating a better future through the means of design!”
“My final MA accessories collection ‘Made in Patacancha’ was created after having spent time living in the Peruvian Andes with the remote weaving community of Patacancha, aiming at preserving traditional techniques all the while promoting them internationally. The work addresses the problems caused by industrialisation and the opportunities from increased tourism, leading to analysing trends to match supply and demand for a viable non-mechanised future.
Following my studies at Central Saint Martins I was commissioned designer on The Anou / British Council residency where I was able to exchange skills, knowledge and ideas to explore the relationship between craft and contemporary design. Living with Berber master weavers in the Atlas Mountains, allowed me to develop workshops with the artisans in order to give them the tools to create new designs inspired by their own heritage, surroundings and personal stories. The six rugs designed and created during the residency formed the basis of an exhibition that was shown at Design Junction during the London Design Festival 2014.”
